Reduction of Dust

The flowing water on indoor fountains can help clean the air. Air is usually filled with many dust particles and other airborne material. As the air comes into contact with the water dust particles are removed from the air because they adhere to the water and cannot escape. Water fountains can improve concentration and promote relaxation. In spaces where there are many different sources of noise the flow of water can produce a white noise barrier which is consistent and predictable. Many therapy centers use white noise generators to help patients focus on an uninterrupted train of thought. A fountain can serve this purpose with an additional visual element of flowing water and soft lighting. This predictability promotes relaxation because the mind does not need to be alert to distracting sounds which need to be continually interpreted and acted upon. Living and working in this type of environment with unpredictable noise can result in irritability and loss of productivity. The water sound from indoor water fountains can also be associated with peaceful settings, tropical islands and beautiful waterfalls.

Anti-Bacterial Coatings

Some indoor water fountains can be specially made with anti-microbial coatings and ultraviolet lighting to prohibit the growth of microorganisms.
